Why must Drew Quartermaine leave General Hospital if he doesn’t want fans to abandon the show?

Drew Quartermaine, played by Cameron Mathison, has been a character on General Hospital for several years now,

but his recent actions and decisions have led many fans to view him in a less-than-favorable light. Once seen as a hero—an all-American good guy trying to rebuild his life—

Drew’s recent behavior has caused many viewers to reconsider their opinions about him. His choices, particularly in the past year,

have painted him as manipulative, self-serving, and at times, downright hypocritical. What was once a character many fans rooted for is now a man who, in many eyes, has crossed the line into the realm of “worst character.”

At the heart of Drew’s recent fall from grace is his involvement in the tangled web of romantic relationships in Port Charles.

Drew’s relationship with Carly Corinthos has drawn the ire of many fans, particularly because of how it unfolded. His romance with Carly came after her tumultuous relationship with Sonny Corinthos,

her husband, and was complicated further by the fact that Drew knew how much this would hurt his own family. Drew’s repeated willingness to play both sides of the relationship and use Carly’s vulnerability to his advantage has earned him little sympathy from the audience. In contrast to the man who was once known for his strong moral compass, Drew’s actions now seem driven by his personal desires rather than any sense of loyalty or honesty.

Another reason Drew has become increasingly unpopular among fans is his inconsistent and often self-serving approach to family matters. The Quartermaine family has always been at the center of many dramatic storylines, and Drew, as a member of this powerful family, has played an important role. However, his behavior regarding his brother Jason Morgan and his son Scout has shown an alarming level of selfishness. Drew has been quick to make choices that put his own interests first, even when it means sidelining or betraying his family. His behavior towards Jason, especially in the wake of their complicated history, has raised eyebrows. Instead of trying to rebuild their relationship, Drew often seems to act out of a sense of entitlement or superiority, further damaging their bond.

Drew’s recent actions in business matters have also contributed to his growing reputation as a manipulative character. In the high-stakes world of the Corinthos family, business and personal lives are often intertwined, and Drew’s involvement in some questionable business dealings has painted him as someone who is willing to go to any length for success. His manipulative behavior in these scenarios has further alienated him from fans who once saw him as a man of integrity. The line between doing what’s necessary for survival and crossing ethical boundaries is thin, and Drew has blurred that line far too often for viewers to overlook.

Despite his repeated failures, Drew seems to have a lack of genuine accountability for his actions. While characters like Sonny and Carly are often shown grappling with the consequences of their choices, Drew appears to evade the same level of scrutiny. His consistent ability to shift blame onto others while rarely acknowledging his own role in the messes he creates has become frustrating to fans who expected more from a character who was once beloved. His lack of self-awareness and his refusal to take responsibility for his actions only deepen his portrayal as a less-than-ideal hero.

Perhaps what has angered viewers most is Drew’s tendency to present himself as a victim, even when he’s the one causing the most harm. Whether it’s his entanglements with Carly, his strained family dynamics, or his business choices, Drew often adopts a martyr-like attitude that rings false to the audience. His inability to own up to the damage he’s caused, coupled with his selfishness, has led to a growing disdain for his character. Where once there was hope that Drew could redeem himself, it’s now clear to many fans that his path is one of self-interest and manipulation.

In conclusion, Drew Quartermaine’s transformation from a once-noble character to one of the least likable figures on General Hospital has been a disappointing one. His selfishness, lack of accountability, and hypocrisy have turned him into a character that viewers are no longer able to root for. His behavior has alienated him from both fans and other characters, and it’s hard to see a way for him to redeem himself in the eyes of those he has wronged. Drew may still be a prominent figure in Port Charles, but at this point, his actions make it difficult for anyone to see him as anything other than one of the worst characters on the show.
