The new owner of the Rovers Return on Coronation Street has been “revealed”—and it’s not who you think, but someone connected to Daisy, who is about to leave town.

The latest development in Coronation Street has sent shockwaves through fans, as the new

owner of the Rovers Return appears to have been revealed—though it’s not who many would have expected. The Rovers Return is one of the most iconic locations in all of British soap operas, having served as the heart of Weatherfield for over six decades. With its rich

history spanning Coronation Street’s 65-year tenure, the beloved pub has seen numerous

landlords and landladies take the reins, from legendary figures such as Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear) and Liz McDonald (Beverly Callard) to more recent custodians like Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

Currently, the Rovers is under the ownership of Carla Connor (Alison King). This unexpected change in ownership came about after Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) and Daisy, desperate to secure the pub, resorted to using stolen money from Carla’s factory. Their deception was eventually uncovered, leading to Carla taking ownership of the establishment as retribution, as it had been purchased with her money. Though she was furious upon learning the truth, Carla ultimately decided against turning Jenny and Daisy in to the authorities. However, she made it clear that the Rovers now legally belonged to her.

In recent weeks, circumstances have changed dramatically. With Carla facing serious health concerns and in urgent need of a kidney transplant, she has demanded that Jenny and Daisy return the money she originally invested in the pub. Should they fail to come up with the cash, Carla has threatened to take drastic action by selling the Rovers herself—or, worse, reporting them to the police for their previous theft. With no immediate way to raise the funds, Jenny and Daisy were left scrambling for a solution.

Just when it seemed as though things couldn’t get worse, Daisy’s boyfriend, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), stepped in with a selfless act. In an attempt to save the Rovers and keep Daisy out of trouble, Daniel offered to use his young son Bertie’s money to pay off Carla. This seemingly resolved the issue and provided a temporary sense of relief for Daisy. However, Friday’s episode (March 7) threw an unexpected wrench into their plans, leaving Daisy facing yet another crisis.

Following a devastating hit-and-run accident, Daisy received heartbreaking news—she had lost her baby. While still in the hospital, she was confronted by an unexpected visitor: Shona Platt (Julia Goulding). Shona and her husband, David, have been struggling financially, as they owe thousands to the dangerous gangster Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor). Sensing an opportunity, Shona blackmailed Daisy, demanding a hefty sum of £40,000 in exchange for her silence about Daisy’s involvement in the hit-and-run. Shona made it clear that if Daisy refused, she would go to the police, which could have catastrophic consequences.

Understanding the gravity of the situation, Daisy knew that if the truth were exposed, both she and Daniel could face legal repercussions, leaving Bertie without them. Desperate to protect her family, Daisy ultimately agreed to Shona’s demands. Later, she messaged Shona, confirming that she would send the money.

This new financial burden leaves Daisy in an impossible position. With her original plan to use Bertie’s savings to pay Carla now in jeopardy, speculation is mounting over how Carla will eventually be repaid and who will emerge as the new owner of the Rovers Return.

On a Coronation Street fan page on Facebook, viewers have begun sharing their theories about who might take over the pub. A popular prediction among fans is that Daisy’s estranged mother, Christina (Amy Robbins), will step in to help her daughter. One viewer commented, “I feel like Daisy’s mum is going to help Daisy. We know she’s returning.” Another person echoed this theory, writing, “That’s a good idea.” A third fan added, “I’m thinking that as well. She hears about Daisy losing her baby, comes back and they patch things up, so she gives her the money.”

The possibility of Christina stepping in to save the Rovers is an intriguing one, especially given her rocky relationship with Daisy. However, with Christina’s return to the cobbles confirmed earlier this year, following Charlotte Jordan’s announcement that she would be leaving Coronation Street after five years, this theory seems increasingly plausible. Whether Christina will become the new owner or if another unexpected twist awaits viewers remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—the future of the Rovers Return is far from settled.
