Grant Mitchell is set to return to Albert Square in upcoming episodes of EastEnders ahead of the show’s 40th anniversary—and will ‘end’ Linda Carter’s life with ‘a single st@b’!!!

As EastEnders prepares to mark its monumental 40th anniversary, some of the show’s most iconic characters are making their return to Albert Square.

Among them are Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) and Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), both of whom are set to play pivotal roles in the next chapter of the long-running drama.

Linda Carter’s return follows her emotional departure from Walford just before Christmas, as she entered rehab to confront her battle with alcohol addiction.

Linda’s storyline has been a powerful exploration of addiction, showing her struggle to regain control of her life.

Prior to her departure, Linda was faced with a harsh wake-up call when her mother, Elaine (Harriet Thorpe), gave her an ultimatum: seek help or face being homeless.

In a heartbreaking episode, Linda saw a future in which her addiction led to her death, a vision that propelled her into rehab to tackle the illness head-on.

Now, after spending time in rehab, Linda is returning to Walford to continue her journey of recovery, though she has much to catch up on. While Linda has been away, significant events have unfolded in the Square, including the ongoing investigation into who attacked Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) on Christmas Day. Linda will be returning to a changed Walford, but it remains to be seen how she will adjust to life back in the community.

Linda’s return is timely, coinciding with Grant Mitchell’s reappearance on the show. Ross Kemp will reprise his role as the iconic Mitchell brother, marking a significant moment in the unfolding mental health storyline involving Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). Phil’s struggles with his mental health have taken a dark turn recently, as he’s been experiencing hallucinations and pushing away those who care about him, including Sharon (Letitia Dean).

At the start of the week, Sharon tries to convince Phil to see a doctor to address his worsening mental health, but he lashes out in anger, further distancing himself from her. As the days progress, Sharon grows increasingly concerned about Phil’s well-being and soon realizes he has gone missing. She organizes a search party to find him, a quest that will lead to Grant Mitchell’s return.

Grant arrives in Walford to help his brother during this difficult time, bringing some much-needed support to the Mitchell family. However, Phil’s mental health continues to deteriorate, and his emotional state worsens as he grapples with his past. In a pivotal moment, Phil begins to hallucinate and relives a traumatic event from his adolescence. This vision leads to the return of Jaime Winstone, who will reprise her role as the younger version of Peggy Mitchell, Phil’s late mother.

The return of these key characters—Linda and Grant—adds emotional depth to the current storylines while marking a key turning point for Phil, whose mental health journey continues to be a focal point of the show. Fans will also be intrigued to see how Linda’s recovery intersects with the Mitchell family’s struggles, as her return promises to bring both drama and heart to the Square.

As we approach EastEnders’ 40th anniversary celebrations, the show continues to capture the hearts of its audience with compelling storylines and beloved characters. With the return of Linda Carter and Grant Mitchell, EastEnders once again proves why it remains a staple of British television, delivering hard-hitting drama and emotionally charged moments that keep viewers coming back for more.
