“I felt really privileged to be given this storyline. When you feel like people are prepared to give you something as big as this, you feel like they are trusting you with it,” Cordingly said.  

Her dedication to portraying Ruby’s experience authentically comes from her passion for raising awareness about abuse and her past work with organizations like Childline and the NSPCC. She emphasized the importance of approaching the topic with care and accuracy to ensure it resonates with audiences meaningfully.  

“So it’s been a relief to get some of the reactions I’ve had from people who have been saying they feel like we’re telling the story in a sensitive way,” Cordingly added.  

The actress noted that if the storyline encourages even one person to share their own story or feel validated, it would be an incredible achievement.
