EastEnders: Denise finally admits to Jack that everything she did for him was because she likes him! However, his response makes her cry and walk away!

In EastEnders, the tension between Denise and Jack has been building for quite some time, but things finally reach a boiling point when Denise admits her true feelings.

After weeks—perhaps even months—of dancing around the issue, Denise is no longer able to keep her emotions bottled up.

She decides to be honest with Jack, pouring her heart out in a moment that she hopes will bring them closer together.

However, the outcome is far from what she expected, and Jack’s response leaves her devastated.

The scene opens with Denise standing in front of Jack, her heart pounding as she prepares to say the words she’s been holding back for so long. There’s a vulnerability in her eyes, a mixture of fear and hope. She’s nervous but determined. For Denise, this moment is a leap of faith. She’s risking everything—her pride, her friendship with Jack, and the careful balance they’ve managed to maintain despite the undeniable chemistry between them. But Denise can’t keep living with the weight of her unspoken feelings anymore. She has to tell him.

Taking a deep breath, she begins. “Jack, I need to tell you something,” she says, her voice steady but soft. Jack, sensing the seriousness of the moment, turns to face her fully, his expression unreadable. Denise hesitates for just a second, her mind racing with the possible outcomes of this conversation, but then she presses on. “Everything I’ve done, everything I’ve tried to do for you… it’s because I like you. I’ve always liked you.”

As the words leave her lips, Denise feels a strange mix of relief and terror. She’s laid it all out there, finally said what’s been weighing on her heart for so long. There’s no going back now. For a moment, the world seems to stop as she watches Jack’s face, searching for any sign of how he feels. But what she sees is not the reaction she had hoped for. Jack looks stunned, as though her confession has caught him completely off guard. His silence stretches on for what feels like an eternity.

Denise’s heart sinks as Jack’s initial shock turns into something more complicated. There’s a flicker of discomfort in his eyes, and Denise can feel her stomach twist. She hadn’t expected this to be easy, but she certainly didn’t expect it to be this hard either. “Denise…” Jack finally begins, his voice careful, measured. It’s clear he’s choosing his words with extreme caution, and that only makes Denise more anxious. Whatever he’s about to say, she knows it won’t be what she wants to hear.

“I… I don’t know what to say,” Jack continues, running a hand through his hair, his eyes avoiding hers. “I never saw it like that. I thought we were just… friends.” The word ‘friends’ feels like a dagger to Denise’s heart. It’s a word that feels inadequate, a word that erases the depth of what she feels and reduces it to something trivial. But Jack doesn’t stop there. “I care about you, Denise, I really do. But not like that. I can’t give you what you’re looking for.”

And just like that, Denise’s worst fear is realized. The rejection hits her like a tidal wave, knocking the breath out of her. She tries to keep her composure, to hold back the tears that are already stinging the back of her eyes, but it’s no use. The pain is too raw, too immediate. Her voice cracks as she forces a response. “I see,” she whispers, trying to keep her head held high even as the tears begin to well up. But the hurt is too overwhelming, and she can’t stop the tears from falling.

Jack, realizing the effect his words have had, reaches out as if to comfort her, but it’s too late. Denise steps back, her heart breaking with every inch that separates them. “Denise, I didn’t mean to hurt you,” he says, his voice filled with regret, but Denise can’t bear to hear it. Every word he says feels like another blow, and she’s already crumbling inside.

“I need to go,” she says quickly, turning away before Jack can see the full extent of her pain. She doesn’t want him to see her like this—broken, vulnerable, and utterly heartbroken. Denise walks away, her steps quick and unsteady, her mind reeling from the rejection. She had poured her heart out, hoping that Jack might feel the same way, but instead, she’s left with nothing but the sting of unrequited love.

As Denise walks away, the tears flow freely. Her mind is racing, replaying the conversation over and over again, wondering if she had misread everything, if there was ever a chance for them at all. The weight of Jack’s rejection is crushing, and for a moment, she feels like she can’t breathe. How could she have been so wrong? How could she have put herself out there like that, only to be met with this?

But as much as the rejection hurts, Denise knows that she couldn’t have kept her feelings hidden forever. It was better to be honest, to face the truth, even if it meant experiencing this pain. Now, at least, she knows where she stands. There’s no more wondering, no more what-ifs. Jack doesn’t feel the same way, and as much as that reality breaks her heart, it’s one she will have to learn to live with.

For Denise, this moment of heartbreak is a turning point. She walks away from Jack, her emotions in turmoil, but somewhere deep inside, there’s a glimmer of strength. She will recover from this, even if it takes time. And while things will never be the same between her and Jack, she knows that she did the bravest thing she could—she told him the truth. Now, all she can do is move forward.
