Coronation Street actress Julia Goulding, best known for playing Shona Platt, has revealed that an upcoming stunt in the soap is set to leave audiences reeling.

The dramatic moment, which involves a terrifying hit-and-run incident, was both shocking to witness and intense to film,
with Goulding describing the scene as incredibly “gory” and “sticky.”
The harrowing sequence unfolds as David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) finds himself in grave danger after another encounter with Andy (Andrew Goth).

Andy arrives wielding a knife, warning David that Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor) has run out of patience.

He informs David that Harvey has ordered his death to cash in on his life insurance, leaving David fearing for his life.

Later, as David stumbles into the street, Shona arrives just in time to witness a car hurtling toward him. In a tragic twist, Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) is also crossing the road at that exact moment, leading to both characters being struck by the speeding vehicle. The shocking question remains—has Harvey finally succeeded in his revenge against David?
Julia Goulding Describes Filming the Intense Scene
Speaking about the upcoming scenes, Goulding shared insight into how events unfold. “David’s been really shifty,” she said, explaining Shona’s perspective before the accident. As she drives down the street, she spots David standing in the middle of the road—not moving, not even attempting to cross.
“Shona stops the car and gets out, thinking, ‘What is he doing?’ And then bam, the car runs him over,” Goulding revealed.
The team behind Coronation Street ensured that the stunt was as realistic as possible, making the moment even more intense. Goulding admitted that even knowing what was about to happen, it was still shocking to witness. “You kind of feel very nervous before you see it happen,” she said. “But it was fantastic to watch the stunt. The stunt people are just incredible.”

Did David Want to Be Hit?
While it initially appears to be an accident, Shona doesn’t immediately consider that David may have been deliberately waiting for the car to hit him. She simply registers his strange behavior before the incident and is entirely focused on his survival in the aftermath.
“From the moment the car hits him, her mind isn’t even working. I think she’s just trying to keep him alive or hope that he stays alive,” Goulding said.
It’s only in the days following the crash that Shona starts to process what happened and piece things together.
Graphic Injuries and a Realistic Stunt
David suffers severe injuries as a result of the collision, and filming the aftermath involved a significant amount of fake blood. Goulding described the process, revealing how intense and messy the shoot was.

“He’s dead—he’s going to bleed to death with her trying to stop it,” she said, emphasizing the gravity of the situation. “There was a lot of blood. Jack was on the floor for a couple of days, and we were both covered in this sticky, glucosey, syrupy blood.”
Given the strict guidelines for television violence before the 9 PM watershed, Coronation Street had to be mindful of how graphic the scenes appeared. Goulding explained that precautions were taken to avoid upsetting viewers while still maintaining the dramatic impact.
“We wore quite dark clothing as well so it doesn’t upset compliance,” she noted.
What Happens Next?
With David’s life hanging in the balance, the next few episodes will be crucial in determining whether he survives the horrific accident. Meanwhile, Shona will struggle to come to terms with the possibility that David may have intentionally put himself in harm’s way.

As for Daisy, her fate also remains uncertain, with the crash potentially exposing more secrets she has been keeping.
Viewers will have to stay tuned to see how this dramatic storyline unfolds and whether David and Daisy make it out alive. One thing is for sure—this is set to be one of Coronation Street’s most unforgettable stunts in recent history.
