Kathy Cotton will be tormented by guilt over her secret affair with Harvey Monroe in next week’s EastEnders after she accidentally ‘steps on a l@ndmine’ regarding Jean’s secret!

Kathy Cotton’s secret affair with Harvey Monroe is set to take a devastating emotional toll in

next week’s EastEnders, as she finds herself drowning in guilt—not just over betraying Jean Slater, but also for unintentionally stirring up painful memories from Jean’s past. As she becomes more entangled in the affair, Kathy will struggle to balance her desires with the

weight of her conscience, but a careless remark will leave her feeling as though she has walked straight into a disaster she never saw coming.

Since embarking on her clandestine relationship with Harvey, Kathy has been playing a dangerous game, sneaking around behind Jean’s back while maintaining the façade of friendship. Though she initially convinced herself that their romance was harmless, the reality of the situation is beginning to catch up with her. Harvey, too, is feeling the pressure of their betrayal, yet neither of them can seem to put a stop to their secret rendezvous. Every time they promise to end things, the pull between them proves too strong, drawing them back into each other’s arms.

However, in the coming episodes, Kathy will find herself deeply unsettled when Jean, completely unaware of the affair, turns to her for advice. Jean has always been open with Kathy, trusting her as a friend and confidante, which only makes the deception more unbearable. During one of their conversations, Kathy unwittingly makes a comment that touches on a painful chapter of Jean’s life—a topic that she never would have mentioned had she realized the significance. But by the time she recognizes her mistake, the damage is already done.

Jean’s reaction is immediate. Though she tries to maintain her composure, it’s clear that Kathy’s words have struck a nerve, reopening old wounds that she had worked hard to bury. Kathy watches in horror as Jean’s expression changes, shifting from confusion to sadness, and eventually to something bordering on distress. The weight of her misstep becomes overwhelming, and guilt crashes over her like a tidal wave. In that moment, Kathy is forced to confront just how much she stands to lose—not just Harvey, but also the friendship and trust she has built with Jean over the years.

Meanwhile, Harvey is dealing with his own internal battle. He has never been the type to lie so blatantly, and seeing Jean in pain only makes him more aware of how deeply they are deceiving her. As Jean starts to spiral, reflecting on the painful memories that Kathy inadvertently triggered, Harvey is torn between the life he’s built with Jean and the passion he shares with Kathy. Every passing day, it becomes harder for him to justify his actions, and yet, he can’t seem to find the strength to come clean.

For Kathy, the burden becomes almost unbearable. She desperately wants to make things right, but every attempt she makes to comfort Jean only reminds her of the betrayal she’s actively participating in. With every moment of kindness Jean shows her, the knife twists deeper into her gut. The contrast between Jean’s sincerity and her own dishonesty leaves her feeling suffocated, and for the first time since the affair began, Kathy truly questions whether she can keep living this lie.

To make matters worse, the tension between Jean and Ruby Allen—who has been helping with Martin Fowler’s funeral arrangements—continues to build, adding another layer of stress to an already overwhelming situation. Kathy tries to keep herself occupied by assisting with last-minute details for the service, but her mind keeps drifting back to Jean’s reaction and the terrible realization that her careless remark may have done irreparable damage.

As the week progresses, Kathy will struggle more than ever with the consequences of her actions. The guilt, the lies, and the fear of being caught will all weigh heavily on her, leaving her questioning whether this affair is worth the risk. But with Harvey still drawn to her, and their connection growing stronger by the day, will she be able to walk away before everything comes crashing down? Or has she already crossed a line that she can never come back from?
