Coronation Street fans have been left surprised after discovering that Jane Hazlegrove, who plays Bernie Winter, is married to a fellow soap star.

Jane has been a part of the ITV soap since 2019, portraying the fiery and protective mother of Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) and Paul (Peter Ash). 

Her character, Bernie Winter, quickly became a fan favourite due to her no-nonsense attitude and emotional storylines. 

Over the years, Bernie has faced plenty of drama, from reuniting with her long-lost son Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) to navigating her romance with Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin).

One of Bernie’s most heart-wrenching storylines came in 2023 when Paul was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). 

In September 2024, viewers watched as Paul tragically passed away, with Bernie by his side in some of the soap’s most emotional scenes to date.
