Cody from General Hospital reveals the real reason his character had to be “written off” was because the bosses wanted to make room for Drew: “They were bribed by him with a deal…”

In recent months, General Hospital fans have had no shortage of dramatic moments, but

one character who has continued to frustrate viewers with his increasingly poor decisions is Drew (Cameron Mathison). While Drew’s actions have often left fans shaking their heads, he has at least managed to stand out in a world filled with flawed and complex characters.

However, as of late, it seems that Drew may not even be the most irritating character on the

show anymore. Enter Cody (Josh Kelly), who has recently surpassed Drew in the race for the title of most bothersome character.

Drew has been a controversial figure for some time now, and his recent choices have done little to change that. His relationship with his nephew’s wife, his role in Michael’s (Chad Duell) custody battle, and his apparent sense of entitlement have alienated many viewers. Drew has become synonymous with bad decisions, and it’s hard to find many fans who are still sympathetic toward him. His actions have painted him as selfish and increasingly out of touch with the realities facing those around him.

However, just when it seemed like Drew’s behavior couldn’t get worse, Cody has stepped up to the plate, much to the dismay of viewers. Cody’s character, when he first debuted on General Hospital, had a certain rough-around-the-edges charm. He was introduced as an outsider, a man not tied to the powerful families that dominate Port Charles. He seemed to offer a fresh perspective, and there was hope that his character could grow and evolve. But things took a dramatic turn once it was revealed that Cody was Mac’s (John J. York) son and a cousin to Sasha (Sofia Mattsson).

Instead of becoming a more grounded and relatable figure, Cody’s recent actions have made him harder to root for. His behavior at Kristina’s (Kate Mansi) grand opening party for her new bar was a low point. Not only did he attempt to blackmail Spinelli (Bradford Anderson), but he also assaulted Lucky (Jonathan Jackson), which further tarnished his image. While there’s some understanding of Cody’s internal turmoil, given his complicated relationship with Sasha and his struggles with gambling, these actions can’t be excused. There’s a clear lack of respect for others, and it’s hard to feel sympathy for him when he continues to make poor choices.

Perhaps the most egregious thing Cody has done recently is spreading the false rumor that Sasha is carrying Jason’s (Steve Burton) baby. Not only is the information incorrect, but the sheer audacity of Cody sharing such private news—especially when it wasn’t his to tell—has left fans fuming. Even if the rumor were true, Cody has no business discussing Sasha’s pregnancy with others, let alone dragging Jason’s name through the mud in the process.

The problem here is not just the misinformation but Cody’s complete disregard for the impact of his words. He has no real connection to Jason and has barely interacted with him in any meaningful way. Yet, Cody feels entitled to judge Jason’s character, calling him dishonorable and criticizing him as a father. It’s particularly frustrating when you consider Cody’s own life is in shambles due to his reckless decisions. Cody’s comments about Jason ring hollow, especially since he’s in no position to throw stones, given his own struggles.

If Cody has heard about Jason’s infamous altercation with his twin brother, it’s unclear why he would be so quick to make judgments about someone he hardly knows. Cody has displayed a reckless disregard for others, and his behavior is starting to feel more like a liability than a potential asset to the show.

It’s fair to say that I’m a fan of Jason, so my frustration with Cody may be a bit more intense than some viewers. Still, it’s hard to ignore how Cody’s actions have escalated to the point where he may soon eclipse Drew in the race for the most annoying character. If Cody doesn’t start learning from his mistakes and taking responsibility for his actions, fans may start calling for his comeuppance, and it could be even more satisfying than seeing Drew face the consequences of his own misdeeds. Only time will tell if Cody can redeem himself—or if he’ll continue to make enemies both on-screen and with the audience.
