As we head into the week of January 13th to 16th, EastEnders is set to bring more twists and turns that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats. 

From major arrests to secret love lives, and a dark past coming back to haunt the characters, here’s what to expect from the latest developments in Albert Square.

1. Lauren Branning Arrested as Cindy Beale Regains Consciousness

Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) has finally woken up after her Christmas Day attack, but the revelation of what happened that night has only caused more confusion. 

As Cindy begins to recall the details of the attack, she identifies someone she knows as the potential culprit. 

This leads to the shocking arrest of her daughter-in-law, Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa), on suspicion of attempted murder.

Peter Beale (Thomas Law), who is caught in the middle of the unfolding drama, is devastated by the arrest. However, when Cindy’s memories come to light, Peter starts to doubt the validity of her statement. He begs her to retract it, but Lauren, in a moment of honesty, reveals a crucial detail to Peter that changes everything. As tensions rise, Peter is forced to confront both his past with Cindy and his future with Lauren.

Soon, Cindy is discharged from the hospital, and Peter struggles to find her a place to stay. After Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) refuses to offer any help, Peter resorts to tricking Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) into taking Cindy in. But will the truth about Cindy’s attacker ever come to light? The mystery seems set to stretch out until February, leaving viewers guessing.

2. Denise Fox Torn Between Ravi and Jack

Denise Fox (Diane Parish) continues to be caught in a love triangle, as she grapples with her feelings for both Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) and Jack Branning (Scott Maslen). Despite her secret meetings with Ravi, her emotions are at war, and things get even more complicated when her daughter Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) and sister Kim (Tameka Empson) nearly catch them in a compromising position.

As Denise throws a birthday party for her son Raymond, Ravi’s jealousy of Jack becomes palpable. When Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) arrives and clashes with Denise, Ravi seizes another moment to be alone with her. But their kiss is caught by his son, Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), which sends Denise into a panic. Feeling trapped, she confides in Ravi, telling him she can’t go public with their relationship, fearing the consequences on her family dynamic.

Meanwhile, Jack, trying to make sense of the situation, takes a step back, only to become involved in a confrontation when some men get inappropriate with Chelsea. Jack’s protective instincts cause him to intervene, but it’s Denise who ends up thanking him for his support. 3. Reiss Colwell’s Desperate Actions Amid Sonia Fowler’s Trial

Reiss Colwell’s (Jonny Freeman) actions continue to raise suspicions as Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy)’s trial for her supposed involvement in her wife’s murder progresses. Reiss, whose own guilt over Debbie’s (Jenny Meier) death looms large, is found trying to steer the trial in his favor by sabotaging any support Sonia needs.

Sonia is devastated when neither Reiss nor Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) appear at court for her trial, despite her pleas for their support. Meanwhile, Reiss’s increasingly erratic behavior raises further questions. Will Sonia’s innocence ever be proven, or will Reiss’s sinister actions be exposed for all to see?

4. Yolande Trueman Supports Nigel Bates

In a heart-to-heart with Nigel Bates (Paul Bradley), Yolande Trueman (Angela Wynter) offers a listening ear as he struggles with his health. Though Nigel has been hiding the truth about his condition, Yolande encourages him to confide in Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden). 5. Ruby Allen’s Jealousy of Stacey Slater and Martin Fowler

Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) finds herself wrestling with jealousy when Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) steps in to help Martin Fowler (James Bye) with his efforts to save Bridge Street Market. As Martin works against the clock to present a case to the council, Ruby’s insecurities grow. But will she voice her feelings of jealousy, or will the tension simmer under the surface?
