The Coronation Street actress Hope shares about her twin brother William as he joins Emmerdale: “Oh my gosh, he’s a disaster waiting to happen!”

The world of Coronation Street is no stranger to drama, heartbreak, and intense storylines, but few characters have made as much of an impression in recent years as Hope Stape.

Hope has become one of the most talked-about characters on the cobbles, thanks in part to her turbulent background and complex behavior.

Recently, the actress who plays Hope opened up about her experience growing up on the set of Coronation Street, how the role has shaped her life, and what it’s like to play such a challenging and often controversial character at a young age.

For those unfamiliar with Hope’s storyline, she is the daughter of Fiz Stape and the late John Stape, one of the soap’s infamous villains. Over the years, viewers have seen Hope navigate the difficulties of growing up with the legacy of her father’s crimes hanging over her. From a young age, Hope has exhibited troubling behavior, ranging from emotional outbursts to more disturbing tendencies, which have caused her family and the Weatherfield community no shortage of worry. As a result, the role of Hope has been one of the more demanding and emotionally charged for a young actor, and [actress name] has managed to capture the complexity of the character with skill and maturity beyond her years.

In a recent interview, the actress spoke candidly about what it’s like to portray such a multifaceted character, especially at such a young age. “Hope is a very complicated girl,” she shared. “She’s been through a lot with her family, and she doesn’t always know how to express her emotions. I think that’s what makes her both challenging and exciting to play. There are moments where she’s just a normal kid, and then there are moments where she’s dealing with things that most kids her age wouldn’t have to face.”

One of the biggest challenges for the young actress has been finding the balance between her life on and off the screen. As she grows up in the spotlight, navigating the pressures of both school and a demanding acting career, she’s had to learn how to manage her time effectively. “It can be a bit overwhelming sometimes,” she admitted. “I go to school during the day, and then I’m on set filming for hours, and it can be a lot. But I love acting, and playing Hope is such an amazing opportunity, so I just try to make it work.”

Despite the pressures, the actress has found a strong support system in her co-stars, many of whom have become like a second family to her. She credits her on-screen mother, Jennie McAlpine (who plays Fiz), with helping her navigate the emotional demands of the role. “Jennie has been incredible,” she said. “She’s always there to give me advice, and she makes me feel so comfortable on set. She’s like my real mum in a lot of ways, and I’ve learned so much from watching her act.”

The actress also revealed that she’s developed close friendships with some of the other young actors on Coronation Street, including [insert names of other child actors if applicable], who have become her companions both on and off the set. “We all have a lot of fun together when we’re not filming,” she said. “It’s nice to have people my own age to talk to and hang out with, especially because we all understand what it’s like to be part of such a big show.”

One of the most surprising aspects of playing Hope, according to the actress, has been the audience’s reaction to her character. While many viewers sympathize with Hope’s troubled upbringing, others have expressed frustration with her increasingly erratic behavior. Hope’s more destructive actions—such as her involvement in starting fires and causing chaos for her family—have led some fans to label her as a potential villain-in-the-making, a prospect that both excites and worries the young actress.

“Some people have really strong opinions about Hope,” she laughed. “I think a lot of them forget that she’s just a kid who’s been through some really hard things. But at the same time, I understand why they get upset with her. It’s part of the fun of playing a character like Hope—she’s not always easy to like, but she’s always interesting. I think there’s still a lot more to her story, and I’m excited to see where it goes.”

When asked about how she deals with the public’s perception of Hope, especially given the intense nature of some of the storylines, the actress said she tries not to let it affect her too much. “At the end of the day, I know it’s just a role, and people are reacting to the character, not me personally. I’ve had a lot of support from fans, and that means the world to me. And for the ones who don’t like Hope, well, that just means I’m doing my job, right?”

Looking to the future, the actress expressed her excitement about continuing to grow in the role of Hope and expanding her acting career beyond Coronation Street. “I’d love to do more acting in different kinds of roles someday,” she shared. “But for now, I’m really happy with where I am. Playing Hope has been an amazing experience, and I feel really lucky to be part of such an iconic show.”

As Coronation Street continues to push the boundaries with Hope’s storyline, it’s clear that the young actress has a bright future ahead of her. Whether Hope ultimately follows in the footsteps of her troubled father or finds a way to overcome her inner demons remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: viewers will be watching closely as the talented actress behind Hope Stape continues to leave her mark on the cobbles.
